Archer Invitational In Pics (32 Elite Performances)

It was a great day of Track and Field competition Saturday at the Archer Invitaional as 18 schools battled for pride and delivered 32 MileSplit Elite Performances. MileSplit GA was onsite and captured almost 5000 Images from nearly every heat of the running events and more field events than we can recall from an Invitational. Below is a pictorial of many of the meet Highlights from Chris D'Aquin.


Caitlan Tate of Brookwood won the 400m out in Lane 8 at 57.89

Girls-  Brookwood won the Girls' team title scoring 120 points while only winning 2 events, but scored points in nearly every event except the Short Sprints. Caitlan Tate won the 400 meters in 57.89 and Brianna Isles took the Triple Jump with a mark of 38-10. Grabbing 2nd place finishes for the Lady Broncs were: Grace Lynch in the 3200 Meters (12:11), Isles took a pair of 2nds in the 100 Hurdles (14.65) and 300 Hurdles (47.17), Cambry Gauthier in the Pole Vault (7-6) and Rachel Oberholtzer in the Shot (33-8.5). Their Relay squads also placed 2nd in the 4x400 (4:02) and 4x800 (10:35)

North Springs looks ready to challenge for another State title run placing 2nd with 88 points. Taking firsts for their squad were: Jayda Drake-Howard in the 300 Hurdles (43.72), Bria Dean in the Long Jump (17-10.5) and their 4x400 squad ran away with it (3:50.82) Tucker was a strong 3rd with 80 points led by Emoni Coleman's double in the 1600 (5:37) and 800 (2:20.33) and Antonia Frazier's wins in the 100 Hurdles (14.48) and High Jump (5-2).  

Also picking up wins in events were Archer's Serenity Douglas in the 100m (11.92) and 200m (24.27) and part of Archer's winning 4x100 squad (47.21). Grayson's Natasha Stamp in the Discus (116-0) and Shot Put (36-9.5). Grayson also won the 4x800 relay posting a 10:17. Caroline Kim of Peachtree Ridge won the 3200m (12:02) and team mate Maria Solares took the Pole Vault at 8-6.

Boys- Archer HS defended their home turf overwhelming the field with a barrage of 148 points scoring big in the Throws, Distance events and Vertical jumps. Ryan Camp began his season with a toss of 169-10 winning the Discus (2nd in the Shot), throws mate Samuel won the Shot Put in 54-7. The Tigers swept the top 2 places in the Pole Vault with Ryan Murrell top bar at 12-6 and Daniel Sherman 2nd at 11-6. James Cragin raced to first in the 3200m (9:59) and 3rd in the 1600m. Damonte' Ward took a hard fought win the 800m going 1:55.78 and their 4x800 squad was impressive winning at 8:18.

Newton placed 2nd with 113 points and may be emerging as a strong challenger at State this season having some gifted athletes including Elijah Goodwin who doubled in the 200m (21.46) and 400m (47.48) Alex Sands who was 3rd (200m) and 4th (400m) as well as a key wheel on their winning relay squads (41.13) in the 4x100 and (3:27.90) in the 4x400. Jeremiah Holloman nearly tripled in the Jumps winning the HJ (6-4), Long Jump (21-8.25) and 2nd in the TJ (46-1.75). Brookwood as usual displayed their program's strength placing 3rd with 104.5 points. Leading the Broncos efforts were Scott Myles as he swept the Hurdles clocking a 15.09 (110h) and 41.17 (300h) while Nate Blackmon won the TJ with a leap of 46-3.5. Others winning events were: Jalen Virgil from Montain View in the 100m (10.75) and Sam Ellis of Decatur took a narrow win in the 1600 (4:33.52)

North Springs raced to 2nd p;ace in the 4x100 at 47.49. (Archer was 1st at 47.21)

Alex Sands anchored Newton to the 4x100 Boys title in 41.13

Sam Ellis from Decatur took a narrow win in the 1600 over Nate Reichard of Peachtree Ridge (rear)

Elijah Godwin of Newton outraced the Conwell twins from SW DeKalb winning the 400m in 47.48

Serenity Douglas from Archer and Micaiah Ransby of North Springs had a photo finish in the 200 Meters

Brookwood's Myles Scott won the Boys 300 Hurdles in 41.19

Tyra Williams of North Springs anchored their win in the Girls 4x400 at 3:50.82

Ryan Camp of Archer began his Outdoor season with a toss of 169-10

Samuel Wright of Archer here with the winning throw in the Shot Put at 54-7


Antonia Frazier from Tucker also won the High Jump with a bar of 5-2
