National Weekend Rundown for November 21

JDL November All Comers (NC)

Nevada Mareno 4:43/10:02 Double - This Girl Is Ready For Foot Locker!

Who says you have to wait until track season to run fast? Indoor national mile champion Nevada Mareno nearly PRed in the Mile on Saturday morning, as she clocked 4:43.49 to win the JDL November All Comers meet. Her personal best is 4:43.23, which she ran as a then-10 second personal best to take down Ryen Frazier at New Balance Nationals Indoor in March.

Mareno won the race by six seconds over Wesley Frazier (4:49.52), who is a redshirt sophomore at NC State and the older sister of Ryen, who is a freshman member of the Wolfpack.

But the near-PR was not enough of a workout for the Leesville Road junior, currently ranked No. 23 in the nation, as she returned to the track on Saturday night for the Hoka One One Postal Nationals 3200m. In her debut at the distance Mareno clocked an unofficial time of 10:02! Hold your breath, folks, here's the video:

Elly Henes of Green Hope High School ran 10:33 for runner-up honors as the top six girls broke 11 minutes. Kenny Kniesel of No. 21 ranked Mt. Tabor edged No. 23 Connor Lane, 9:08 to 9:15, to win the boys race.
