As we see every year now, the state champion cross country teams from the five states of the Southwest region have been busy getting their registrations in for NXR-Southwest.
With a few days of late registration yet to run, this list of state champion teams (some of which may end up running in the Small-School Championship race) with their athletes registered for the big event on November 21 includes:
From Colorado: Mountain Vista, Broomfield, Durango, Air Academy, Alamosa, Salida
From Utah: Davis, American Fork, Timpanogos, Desert Hills, Pine View
From Nevada: Centennial
From Arizona: Desert Vista, Chandler, Flagstaff
From New Mexico: Hobbs, Cleveland, Los Alamos, Albuquerque Academy, Zuni
Of particular note here is the fact that this will mark the first-ever appearance of Hobbs at Nike Southwest. Hobbs has fielded some very strong boys teams in the past, but never before made the trip all the way across New Mexico to race at Nike XC Southwest.
And, of course, in addition to the state champion teams bearing down on Casa Grande, countless other highly-ranked teams have made their registrations as well. Once again, this promises to be a can't-miss kind of event.
Late registration remains open through 6 PM on November 17.
