DeBalsi commits to Stanford

The northeast pipeline to the west coast continues.

According to an article posted on the Minutemen News Center website Tuesday, Staples High senior and All American Hannah DeBlasi has committed to Stanford University. DeBalsi joins a Division I program that includes several from Connecticut and its bordering states - Alex Ostberg (Darien), Maddy Berkson (Classical, R.I.). Abbie McNulty (Bishop Feehan, Ma.), Karina Shepard (Dracut, Ma.) and Claire Howlett (Westhill).

DeBalsi, a multiple state record-holder and All American, brings an impressive resume to Stanford. As a sophomore in 2013-14, she finished second at the Foot Locker Cross-Country Nationals and captured the two mile at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. In June, DeBalsi was second at the Brooks PR Invitational where she ran a best of 9:55.05 for two miles.

The Staples standout will be competing Wednesday afternoon at the FCIAC Championships.
