Summer Training, Week 8: August 10th to August 16th

This week I'm at GMRC running camp run by Nike. Looking forward to running with some great guys and my top notch counselors David Kilgore who ran with Colorado and Florida along with Jordan Schilit who ran for Oregon and is now the assistant coach at Middlebury College.

Monday, August 10 - Wake up was at 6:45. We ran 20 min shakeout in the morning. Played soccer with some guys for an hour before the afternoon run. We ran 52 min to a peak of one of the mountains in the area. It definitely wasn't an easy run for me but it sure was a nice view at the top.

Tuesday, August 11 - This morning was rainy and dull so we decided to stretch out in one if the indoor facilities. I was walking into the building as a tall guy was holding the door. Little did I realize that the tall guy was Andrew Wheating. The 2 time Olympian and Pan Am games gold medalist in the 1500. He joined us on the 25 min shakeout that morning and brought some interesting would you rathers and debates to the conversation. In the afternoon we ran 45 minutes on some nice trails. Andrew couldn't join because he had a track workout to do.

Wednesday, August 12
- Went to Starrs pond in New Hampshire. Ran 1hr and 3minutes. Warmed up for 20 min- ran 20 min fartlek( 1 min on 1 min off). The minutes on were around 5 min pace. Then we just ran/chilled the rest of the run. Afterwards we swam in the pond and ate some food.

Thursday, August 13 - 20 min shakeout in morning. Pacing contest in afternoon- a contest to see how well we could pace. My group was supposed to run 7:12 mile and 3:10 800, but we ran 6:30 and 2:58. Afterwards ran another 3 miles with Luke Laverdiere and Matt Remigino. Rising sophomores that I've raced in the past.

Friday, August 14 - woke up at 6 to run our graduation run. Ran 10 min warm-up. Ran a fast tempo run on a very hilly course for 3 miles. I could hang with the leaders the whole way and felt good. Cooled down for 10 min

Saturday, August 15 - ran at bull run for 6 miles. Like met noemie there and ran on some off trails for 2 miles. And did 5 miles on the course pushing the dip.

Sunday, August 16 - off

This week was mostly based off of minutes but I was probably around 60 miles. GMRC was a great camp to be a part of. We had some really interesting speakers and breakout sessions. Learned more and more each day and met some great people.
