Taylor Bennett ran US #2 23.46 200m in the prelims before winning both the 200m (23.52 wind-aided) and 100m (11.54 wind-aided) in Day 2 finals.

Girls Highlights:

  • Taylor Bennett (Klein Collins) won both the 100m and 200m; her wind-legal marks for national rankings purposes were US #2 23.46 and US #6 11.62, both clocked in the Day 1 prelims
  • Sydney Fowler (Austin Westlake) earns her first-ever state championship berth in style, racing US #8 42.11 300mH
  • Madie Boreman (Leander Rouse) and Abby Guidry (Kingwood) go 1-2 in 1,600m (5:00.39-5:04.74) and 3,200m (10:45.46-10:46.33). Guidry sets pace in both, while Boreman relies on late kick for the win. She split 75 for the final 400m to win the 3,200m.
  • Zuliat Alli (Mesquite Horn) ties US #9 19-4 long jump

  • Teammates Alex Rogers and Sam Worley (New Braunfels Canyon) go 1-2 in 3,200m (9:00.60-9:01.66) and 1,600m (4:18.60- 4:18.54).
  • Andrew Hudson Cibolo Steele wins the 100 Meter dash 10.77

Girls Highlights:

  • The Converse Judson girls' utter domination in the sprints is best exemplified by their dropped baton in the prelims of the 4x400m on Friday night - despite the botched hand off, they still cruise to the win in 3:52! The ladies in red would sweep the sprint relays over the weekend, clocking US #4 45.98 4x100m, US #6 1:37.36 4x200m and US #11 3:46.11 4x400m.
  • It takes talented individuals to run championship relays, as Converse Judson ladies also showed out in the individual events. Kiana Horton won the 200m (wind-aided US #4 23.52)Darionne Gibson won the 400m (55.50),
  • Devin Clark (Smithson Valley) wins both the 3,200m US#6 and 1,600m races. US#6 10:18.37 3,200m gives her the US#6 spot, while her 4:45.91 1,600m gives her US#7.

  • Penn Relays 3k Champion Kate Murphy (Lake Braddock, VA) proves she can throw down in the shorter events with a US #8 4:46.99 1,600m ahead of Libby Davidson (E.C. Glass, VA), who was also runner-up to Murphy at the Penn 3k. The top five girls ran five minutes or better. Murphy's time beat the Meet Record set by Sarah Bowman (now Brown), a multiple-time All-American at the University of Tennessee who now competes professionally for New Balance.
  • Davison returned in the 3,200m to beat out fellow Foot Locker finalist Ciara Donohue, 10:41.14 to 10:47.07
  • Lauren Ghee (Grassfield, VA) doubled with US #24 24.16 200m, US #19 54.67 (Meet Record!)
