Penn Relays Carnival (PA)


T.C. Williams (VA) was the top American team in both the Championship of America 4x100m and Championship of America 4x400m relays at The Penn Relays Carnival.

  • T.C. Williams (VA) again finishes top American team in Championship of America 4x400m (4th overall) as Noah (45.4) and Josephus (46.22) Lyles clock the fastest splits of the field; the squad clocks US #1 3:12 in the morning qualifier
  • Drew Hunter runs US #2 4:07.15 to win the Mile with a 1:58 closing 800 ahead of Mikey Brannigan (Northport, NY) at US #6 4:09.61 and Diego Zarate (Northwest, MD) at US #7 4:09.69; Hunter is only the second prep after Olympian Matt Centrowitz to win both individual distance events at Penn
  • Alex Ostberg wins 3k in US #1 8:23.95 ahead of Aidan Tooker (US #2 8:27.34) and Jake Brophy (US #3 8:29.12)
  • Rai Benjamin (Mount Vernon, NY) is again top American in 400mH with runner-up finish, US #1 51.29
  • La Salle Academy (RI) wins first wheel since 1942 with US #4 10:12.10 DMR performance in a close race that saw four anchors (Jack Salisbury of La Salle, Mikey Singer of McDonogh, Conor Lundy of Fordham Prep and Luke Petela of Haddon Township) split 4:14
  • Nordhoff (CA) finish third as top Americans in COA 4x800 with US #2 time of 7:43.93; James Asselmeyer (Arlington, NY) runs fastest split of the day in 1:51.68, Alek Sauer (Pennsbury, PA) splits 1:51.98

  • Malia Ellington (Community School of Davidson, NC) wins Mile in 4:54.38
  • Virginians Kate Murphy and Libby Davidson beat Canadian favorites to go 1-2 in the 3k, US #1 9:32.82 to US #3 9:34.12
  • Patriot (VA) wins DMR in US #4 , thanks to 4:50 anchor from sophomore Rachel McArthur
  • Western Branch (VA) takes runner-up honors as top American in COA 4x800 with US #1 9:07.71; Amanda Thomas runs fastest split of the day at 2:07.83

Girls Highlights:

  • Stephanie Jenks (Linn-Mar, IA) shows why she is ranked No. 1 this year in the Mile, as she swept her home state's most prestigious track event of the year. The junior won the 3k (US #2 9:33.81), 1,500m (US #3 4:31.09) and 800m (US #8 2:09.64). Surprise! - she also took seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.9.
  • US #2 discus thrower Kiana Phelps (Kingsley-Pierson) won the Discus in 159-4, which is the nation's fifth-best throw this year

Boys Highlights:

  • Jeff Giannettino (West Burlington, IA) jumps US #2 7-1 HJ
  • Thomas Pollard (Gilbert, IA) ran to a 9:07.5 3,200m victory, which allowed for some redemption after a tough loss in the Kansas Relays adidas Dream Mile qualifier last weekend
  • Freshman Ryan Schweizer (Dowling Catholic, IA) won the 1,600m in 4:18.18

  • 16 boys dipped under 9:20 for 3,200m, led by event winner Andrew Jordan (Watkins Memorial, OH), who ran a 12-second PR of 9:05.82
  • Eric Baugh (Villa Madonn) and Kendall Muhammed (Paul Dunbar, KY) go 4:12.93 - 4:13.79 to lead 11 boys under 4:20 in the Mile. Freshman Brodey Hasty (Brentwood) runs 4:19.85
  • Eighth-grader runs 4:28 Mile

  • Annie Heffernan wins Mile in 4:53.27
  • Nine girls break 11 minutes in the 3,200m, as Alexandra Dalton (Greenwood Community) beats out Micheala Reinhart (Lexington Catholic), 10:38.76 to 10:39.95

Kenai Invitaitonal (AK)

Girls Highlights:

  • Allie Ostrander (Kenai Central, AK) makes outdoor debut with US #1 10:01.96 3,200m. She ran sub-10 this month on an oversized indoor track; how long before the NXN Champ cracks the all-time outdoor list?
  • Ostrander returns to the track to win 1,600m in 4:54.51 but misses a triple win with the 800 as Anchorage Christian sprinter Tanner Ealum (who won the 100m in 12.20) edges Ostrander, 2:12.88 to 2:12.98. The race marked a three-second PR for Ostrander and a solid debut in the event for Ealum, who has run 55.8 for 400m and 24.8 for 200m.

  • In the Women's 5,000m, Audrey Belf (Birmingham Seaholm, MI) broke the state record in the 5k with a time of 16:29.68. Sarah Kettel (Capital Homeschool, MI) ran 16:41.25 for the third-fastest time in state history. It is the fastest time ever recorded by an 11th-grader in the state of Michigan.

  • In the Open Men's 1,500m, Grant Fisher (Grand Blanc, MI) placed runner-up to Eastern Michigan alumnus Grzegorz Kalinowski, 3:46.15 to 3:44.51. Fellow high school senior Logan Wetzel (Saline, MI) placed seventh with a time of 3:48.67.

Twins Carlos and Khalil Davis dominated the throwing events at the Gary Parker Invitational.

Boys Highlights:

  • The throws went deep as Carlos Davis threw US #1 214-4 in the Discus to set a new Missouri State Record. He also threw 62-3 in the Shot Put to rank US #10 this season.
  • The boys sprint battles were tight as Kiante Hardin (Webb City) doubled with a 10.67 100m win and 21.7 200m runner-up finish to Taysean Goodwin of Blue Springs North, who ran 21.58 to win the 200m and 10.75 for third in the 100m. Jon Redmond was runner-up in the 100m at 10.74.

  • Now, that's a cross country team - Destiny Collins (Great Oak, CA) breaks school record with 10:19.23 3,200m and leads five teammates under the 11 minute-mark in dual meet.

Georgia Region Championships (GA)

Girls Highlights:

  • Micaiah Ransby (North Springs, GA) continues her breakout junior year, winning the 200m in 23.93 and returning for the 400m to go 1-2 with teammate Dorian Perkins, 54.22 - 57.31.The duo team up in the 4x400m to churn out 3:41.5 in the 4x400m; that time is the fastest in the nation this year and won the meet by more than 20 seconds. They also won the 4x100 in 47.59.

Boys Highlights:

  • Ryan Clark (Banneker, GA) nails All-Conditions US #2 10.22 100m, All-Conditions US #1 20.64 200m
  • Logan Poteet (Kell, GA) doubles in the 1600m (4:22.79) and 3,200m (9:25)

Orange County Championships (CA)

Amanda Gehrich doubled at the Orange County Championships in the 1,600m and 3,200m.
