Ostberg shows old strength doubling as Connecticut Class champ

Alex Ostberg of Darien (CT) has not been at his top form this indoor season after ending his blazing cross country season with injury to slow him down from contending for the Foot Locker National title like he hoped. However, the Stanford bound senior Ostberg showed great strength and signs that he is working back towards his 14:18 national outdoor 5K champion shape in doubling as the Connecticut Class L champion in both the 1600 and 3200 with stiff competition in the 1600 from 4:11 miler Spencer Brown as well in the 3200 from Foot Locker finalist Ari Klau. Ostberg posted winning times of 4:22 and 9:29 respectively.

One of the top female performances belonged to Jessica Drop in the Class S race with the sophomore rolling out a swift 1K time of 2:55.10 to win by a margin of 10 seconds and also ran a key leg on her 4x800 meter relay which posted a fine time of 9:34.99.

Two state leading times in Connecticut were recorded in the boys races from Class S meet with Brian Gendron of Morgan School popping a time of 1:23.64 in the 600, while Tyrik Henry of Enfield motored to a state best time of 7.60 in the 55 meter hurdles.

Alethia Moore of Hillhouse smoked the field in the girls 55 meter dash finals in the Class M race with a CT #1 time of 7.14.
