Team Florida Ready To Rock The World: LIVE Updates From World Juniors

The IAAF World Junior Championships will have a Florida flare this week. Nine Sunshine State speedsters will represent team USA on the largest stage for U20 track and field athletes while three others will represent others countries in this six day event. Day One Florida Highlights:

Gabe Moore 2nd in heat 3 in 100m decathlon earns 865 pts. 12th in Group B of long jump with a mark of 7.02m. Currently, sits in 17th through two events. In his third event, decathlon shot put (13.41), he was the fourth best finisher in Group B. The University of Arkansas signee finished the day in 12th place with 4,010 points. Former Wekiva High School hurdler and University of Kentucky freshman Nick Anderson won heat three in 13.61, the fith fastest time of the day, to advance to the next round. See what he had to say after the race.



Stanton Prep class of 2014 star and FSU signee Kendal Williams wins heat five of the men's 100 meter dash in a new personal best of 10.23. Williams breaks down the race.


Trayvon Bromell takes heat six in 10.13. Announcers are fans of the Baylor freshman's humbleness. They think he could be the next great American sprinter. Get Tray's take on the race as Florida goes 1-2 heading into the next round.

 

 

Jamal Walton the youngest 400m runner in the field and one of the youngest in the meet wins with a time of 47.22, 2nd in Heat 1 and advances to semi-finals. Here is what he had to say after the race.

"The race was good alot of push, but good. I just need to go out there work on my strength and do my best. I want my MGX and Cayman Island family to be happy. "It feels great to be the youngest one out there because I'm running against older boys trying to drop my time even more. I can't let the competition get to my head because of how big they are or their times.When the semi-finals come it is going to be a fast race with an even better times."

Not the fastest run of her career, but Kaylin Whitney does what is necessary to make the semi-finals crossing the line in 11.48. She talks to our MileSplit team after the race.
