Andy Fryman 4th, Bobby Curtis 6th, & Matt Hillenbrand 12th at USATF Outdoor Nationals

 

Three former Kentucky high school athletes competed in the USATF National Championship this week.  
 
Hammer Throw
 
Former Mason County thrower Andy Fryman leads the way with a 4th place finish in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 237-10.  Fryman recently announced that he was leaving his coaching job at Garner-Webb to train full-time for the 2016 Olympics.

10,000m Run
 
Former St. Xavier runner Bobby Curtis finished 6th overall in the 10,000m Run with a time of 28:40.6.  This placing is up from the last two USA Championships when he was 16th and 10th overall in the 10K.

1500m Run
 
Former St. Xavier runner Matt Hillenbrand placed 12th overall in the 1500m Run after finishing 4th in his prelim race. He ran a 3:42.72 in the prelims. He is coming off a PR of 3:39.84 from Portland last week.  He also qualified for Team USA at the NACAC U23 Championship in August in Canada.
