Another Piece To Brooks PR Puzzle: Sukhi Khosla (FL)

Another piece to the Brooks PR puzzle is Leon High School distance runner Sukhi Khosla. In the fall Khosla broke the fifteen minute barrier for cross (5k) when he won the FSU Invitational/Pre-State in 14:59.45. He continued that success into the outdoor track and field season winning both the 1600 and 3200 meter at the Florida 3A state championships. Khosla will compete in the mile and brings a US#1 time and personal best of of 4:05.96 for 1600 meters to the Brooks PR Invitational on Saturday, June 21st in Seattle.

When did you first learn that you were invited to the Brooks PR Invite and how did your react?

Khosla: I found out I was invited a few weeks into May at school. I was pretty excited especially since it made my extremely boring school day more fun.

What does it mean to you to be invited to the Brooks PR Invitational?

Khosla: It means a lot to be invited to any high caliber national meet because it means that I am considered one of the best runners in the country.

What do you hope to achieve at the meet?

Khosla: I hope to win. I suppose everyone has that goal, but I'm definitely not one of those "there for the experience" type people. I also hope that they will
allow me to run the two mile in which case I will definitely be going for the all-time Florida two mile record.

What music do you listen to before races?

Khosla: I actually don't listen to music before races. I find it more helpful to just talk to my friends and stay relaxed.

If you were stranded on an island with three things what would they be?

Khosla: A girl, a TV with every video game ever, and a lifetime supply of Lombardi's pizza.

What would you consider as your best or most favorite race of all-time and why?

Khosla: I would say that the FSU Invitational in cross country in 2013 is my best race. Even though I like track better, this race was a huge one for me because tactically, I executed perfectly. It was the first big meet I ever won and I broke my first real barrier of fifteen minutes, crossing the line in 14:59.

What are some things un-running related people might not know about you?

Khosla: I like to cook and I'm designing an app store game with my team that everyone should buy when it comes out in the near future.

How and why did you get involved in the sport?

Khosla: I started running between 7th and 8th grade because my friend at the time could never hang out in the summer because he had practice. So honestly I started running because I had nothing else to do.

How has your training been leading up to the meet?

Khosla: My training has been going well. The higher intensity workouts are fun when I'm trying to sharpen up, but I know it will be a tough in the weeks leading up to the meet.

What are you most looking forward about your trip, race and weekend at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle?

Khosla: I have never been to Seattle so that will be fun, but I think I'm most excited about the competition and getting in a really fast race.
