4/5 National Weekend Coverage Central

No you didn't miss a Blake Haney versus Grant Fisher matchup this weekend (file photo by David Everett from last summer's World Youth Trials), but both ran national noteworthy times on Saturday with Haney winning the West Coast Relays 1600 in 4:13 (race video - interview) to prep for a stacked Arcadia Invite 3200 next week, while Grant Fisher ran a very swift 3:51 1500 down in the Florida at the USA Youth Olympics Selection Trials.

 

Hannah Chen of Los Gatos High School (pictured left  by Spencer Allen) won the girls 400 meter hurdles race at the Stanford Invitational on Friday in a US #1 time of 1:01.19.

 

Highlights from across the country on the April 4th & 5th weekend of 2014 with the Florida Relays in Gainesville and Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto drawing the most attention, while the Mobile Challenge of Champions in Alabama expects to be one of the best meets in the Deep South this spring.

Florida Relays Day Three: US#1's Abound As South Florida Teams Sweep 4x1, 4x4, & 4x8 Titles

South Florida cleaned house on the final day of the 2014 Florida Relays producing several meet records, US#1's and nationally ranked performances. Miami Northwestern swept both the girls and boys 4x800m relays while the STA girls reeled in victories in the 4x4 and 4x1 with the Booker T. Washington boys accomplishing the same feat. All three days of the 2014 Florida Relays brought tons of incredible performances like advertised including this amazing photo finish in the mens 4x400m relay. Jeff Adams was on-site for flrunners.com and took over 5,700 photos to capture all the action!

The 2014 Florida Relays lived up to it's name as one of the premier track adn field meets in the state and around the country. On day one, we saw new state leaders and nationally ranked times from the likes of Javon Patterson, and Terry Jernigan, just to name a few. Our team was on-site with thousands of photos by Jeff Adams and Darrell Laxton as well as interviews and race videos from Dean Headley and our friends at Flotrack. With 4:47 anchors, Gunn & Davis (CA) girls run top 2 US times in girls DMR at Stanford

A girls distance medley relay with a close 1-2 finish producing the top two times in the country in the race by the winners from Henry M. Gunn High School at 11:56.68 and the Davis Senior girls as close runners-up at 11:56.90 highlighted Friday's high school events action at the Stanford Invitational to build into the final competition on Saturday

One of the top meets nationally this weekend will be at the Stanford Invitational with outstanding high school fields assembled in Palo Alto, California. Haney Battles Wind In Arcadia Tune Up

After cruising through 600 meters in 1:31, Blake Haney settled into pace for an easy victory in the 1600 at Buchanan's West Coast Relays.

Westlake Relays Meet Summary

31 teams were scheduled to run at the 2014 Westlake Relays with many of them having top athletes. Nationally ranked sprinters and relays threw down against team powerhouses in an exciting day of running with some events that aren’t run as frequent.  Images and video should be coming soon...

Westlake Relays Preview

The Westlake Relays is the place to be Saturday as 31 teams converge into South Atlanta to do battle in a variety of Relays, Field Events and showcase Individual events.  Ga.MileSplit will be onsite shooting stills and video once again. In the relay section the highlight event will be the 4x100 with Westlake battling against New Manchester as the both are under 47.5 which puts them top 15 in the nation.
