Sisters Ryen and Wesley Frazier are both Seattle-bound this weekend, looking to justify the name of the meet.

In recent years, North Carolina's top talent has made a habit of heading to the West Coast for some of the most competitive meets in all three seasons.  This week, five of our best will be on their way to Seattle for the Brooks PR Invitational, which has quickly become one of the highlights of indoor track in the US.  The meet holds only seven events (60 Dash, 60 Hurdles, 400, 800, Mile, and Two-Mile), and meet management invites elite athletes by sending them "Golden Tickets."  Take a look at the impressive resumes of each of North Carolina's participants.

Wesley Frazier

Ravenscroft School (Raleigh, NC) SR

Events: Mile, Two-Mile

PR's: 4:42.78 (Mile), 10:10.86 (Two-Mile), 16:24.83 (5000)

Wesley's Athlete Profile

As the only returning athlete among North Carolina's entrants, I asked Wesley a few questions about the meet:

What makes this meet special to you? I think that one of the best things that has happened to high school running over my last four years is the mini-boom in company sponsored track competitions around the country.  Brooks was one of the pioneers of these events.  Before, there was mainly just Foot Locker and NXN for cross country.  With the Brooks PR, and others like it,  participating high school runners are able to learn from highly competitive racing experiences in front of large crowds...experiences that are practically impossible to get at their local or state level.  As more of these events have been added around the country, I believe they have helped raise the level of high school running overall. I am forever grateful to Brooks and other companies for sponsoring these races and giving me the opportunity to participate and learn.

How does it feel to go back this year with Ryen? I always look forward to going back, and it will be special this year with my sister going.  I'm glad she will get to experience the competitive atmosphere that exists and also meet girls I've known from past years as well as build new friendships with ones she will see again in the future.  Many times the girls you compete with over the years at these events end up being teammates going forward into college, as it is with me and the M&M's [the Meier twins from Michigan] at Duke.

Ryen Frazier

Ravenscroft School (Raleigh, NC) SO

Event: Two-Mile

PR's: 4:59.73 (Mile), 10:34.05 (3200), 17:53.80 (5000)

Event: 60 Hurdles

PR's: 8.02 (60H), 7.41 (55H), 13.94 (110H)

Isaiah's Athlete Profile

Two questions for Isaiah about the Brooks PR meet:

What does being invited to a meet like this mean to you?  Its a good chance to run against the people I will see at the indoor nationals. Its also exciting to run at the fastest indoor track to improve my time. It's also amazing to have been choosen out of all the athletes that could have gone.

Is this the farthest you have ever traveled for a meet? No, I have been to California for the Junior Olympics in 2010.
