The contest is over, the entries have been uploaded, and the Brooks council has chosen two winners.

Flotrack is proud to announce that Brooks has chosen Meghan Lockett and Nate Marti as the two winners of the Brooks PR Student Reporter contest! These two lucky winners will be flown out to Seattle to work side-by-side with Milesplit and Flotrack during the Brooks PR Invitational at the UW Dempsey Indoor Track.

Brooks, Milesplit, and Flotrack want to thank all of our contestants for uploading such creative videos.

Now, what did it take to win? Check out the crème de la crème and a little information about our Student Reporters.

Meghan Lockett
Comus, Maryland

When we received Lockett’s entry, we thought she looked familiar. Lockett had been a member of Track-Town USA’s Youth Leadership Camp this summer in Eugene, OR. She worked with the U.S. Olympic Trials Meet Operations Team to help carry out duties on the track during their four day experience at the Trials.

That’s not all for this sophomore. In a profile by Erin Stout of Running Times, Lockett isn’t your traditional high school student. Wise beyond her years, she had has taken her education into her own hands and asked her parents if she could be home-schooled. Since then, Lockett has helped to design her own individualized online curricula.

Although Lockett cannot compete on any public school teams, that does not mean she is barred from receiving coaching advice. Lockett is a member of the online coaching service, the Run SMART Project. The Project matches athletes with coaches who then develop and implement individualized training plans. Lockett is coached by two-time NCAA 10,000m champion, Alicia Shay.

Nate Marti
Mt. Vernon, Iowa

There was a lot to like about Marti’s video. For simplicity’s sake, we’ve listed a few notable touches from his submission.
  • Right off the bat: The weather, the Seattle shirt, and the Bolt pose.
  • The 1984 smash synthpop hit by Matthew Wilder, Break My Stride
  • A pet hedgehog named Gizmo
  • The novel, Chariots of Fire (not even the movie)
  • The Boss
  • A cat named Mr. Prefontaine
  • Love for Brooks
Well, there you have it folks. Again, Brooks, Milesplit, and Flotrack want to thank all of our contestants and congratulations to our winners!

See you in Seattle!
