Important information for coaches and athletes for this Saturday's MileStat.com Elite Track Gala in regards to athletes check-in, paying entry fees at the meet, boys high jump moved up to 2 pm, running section finals of 100 and 110/100 hurdles, parking, admissions, t-shirts, awards.
- Athletes Check In/Paying Entry Fees At Meet - Please check into the meet upon arrival at the small gate entrance behind the 100 meter starting area. There will be a desk and table with an meet official there. If you have not paid your entry fee prior to Saturday, you will pay it at this location. Please help us as far as seeding sections and notify us of any scratches at this table.
- Boys High Jump Moved Up To 2 PM - The numbers in both high jump competitions were greater than expected and to make sure we try to avoid conflicts with the running events (in particular the steeplechase), we will start the boys' high jump at 2 pm from its original starting time at 3 PM. All other field events scheduled to start at 3 PM will remain at the same starting time.
- Running Events Begin At 5PM - Running events will still begin at 5 PM. The only important change to note is that there will not be preliminary rounds of the 100 meter dash or 110/100 meter hurdles. We will run section finals on time for the girls 100 meter hurdles at 5 PM with the boys 1100 meter hurdles and 100 meter dashes to follow.
- Parking - Due to schedule conflicts with the Richmond Braves minor league baseball game at 6 PM, there will be a $3 parking charge for all vehicles coming to the meet since the parkings lots for Sports Backers Stadium are shared by the adjacent Diamond, where the R-Braves play. The charge is out of my control and zero of those fees are going to me.
- Admissions - While that was the bad news with the parking, there is good news in that I will no longer be charging an admission to the meet because last thing I want to do is have people already in a bad mood coming into the Gala having just paid a total of $8 to come watch the meet. Plenty of reasons to come watch Saturday's evenings events for a high school track enthusiast and the pot just got a whole lot sweeter!
- T-Shirts - Since there will be no admission fee, you should have more buying power to get a MileStat.com Gala meet t-shirt which will be printed on-site by our vendor. Our vendor will be setup before the field events, so those competing in the earlier events can get t-shrits as well.
- Awards - We will be doing formal awards ceremonies to the top 6 individuals in each event on the homestretch side of the track. We will be looking to do the awards immediately following the events to make sure no athletes disappear on us or leave the meet, so please be aware.
- USATF Rules - Remember that this is a USATF sanctioned meet and not VHSL sanctioned meet, so there are several differences in rules. For example, false starts: the first false start is charged to the field with USATF rules and then the second false start is charged to the athlete who false started the second time.
